Help us bring hope

Every dollar makes an impact in the life of a child.

"Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress" (James 1:27a)

About Zanethemba PE

Zanethemba is a safe haven for young children in Port Elizabeth, South Africa that provides temporary care for children from unstable homes. The local government provides aid to children 7 years and older, leaving the youngest and most vulnerable at risk. That’s where we found our purpose. In fact, our name in its original language (isiXhosa) means ‘to bring hope’ and we seek to represent that definition through name and action. Zanethemba provides a safe and loving environment for children ages 0-6 years old. We’ve seen the neglect and abuse these children face and strive to provide all resources possible to help facilitate healing. We provide therapeutic services, education, nutrition, and access to medical assistance. If you’d like to find out more about the Port Elizabeth operations, visit Zanethemba PE's website.

About Zanethemba US

In May of 2024, Tyler Ayers in Nashville, TN met Catherine Van Ransburg, Director of Zanethemba from South Africa through a Zoom meeting. The rest is not yet history, but history is very much in the making. January of 2025 Zanethemba US was registered as the North American partner of the main charity in South Africa. We exist to raise awareness and funding so that the Haven has the ability to care for as many children as possible.

How can I help?

PRAY

When praying for Zanethemba, please consider the children we care for and our healing resources. The healing resources we provide the children with are not just physical, but emotional as well. From the medical supplies, to the people to apply them, to our caregivers. Every person involved helps each child process hundreds of emotions each and every day. While they began working with us because of their hearts for service, we recognize that it's never a simple responsibility.

GIVE

Whether it's a one-time donation, a monthly commitment, or deciding to join our fundraisers, every little bit helps. Currently, our first priority is to buy property to build on. We've received permission from the local government to have up to 6 kids within one building, no matter the building size. Therefore, when you give to Zanethemba you are helping not only to provide services and material goods to the kids, but also to provide a safe and loving home.
